Sin

All mankind is sinful. Every man, woman, boy and girl is born with a sin nature. Let's look at what God's Word says.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one. Romans 3:10

Penalty of Sin

Sin comes with a price. Again God's Word says

For the wages of sin is death… Romans 6:23

Wages are something you've earned for something you've done.
Sin is something you've done in disobedience to God.
So what we've earned for our sin is death.
This is not referring to just a physical death but a spiritual death.

The Bible, God's Holy Word, states:

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20:14

The Gift

Romans 6:23 does not end on the bad note we just read, it goes on!!!

For the wages of sin is death; BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

For He hath made Him (Jesus) to be sin for us, Who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21

But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Jesus Christ is our Gift from God for salvation!!!!

What now?

Jesus Himself said:

I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke 13:3

You must repent of your sins and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

In Acts 20:21 the Bible says:

…repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is all a single act of God in your heart. It is God that enables us to turn from our sin (repentance). It is also God that washes our sin away in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. This all takes place when we come to Him with a repentant heart and faith in His shed blood on Calvary (His substitutionary death), burial in a borrowed tomb and His glorious resurrection three days later. Romans 10:8-10, 13 says:

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the Word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus said in John 3:3:

…Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

If you have not been born again, would you humble yourself right where you are, repent of (turn away from) your sins and trust the Lord Jesus Christ to save you.

The Word of God says,

But as many as received Him (Jesus), to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name. John 1:12

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:23
